From winter to the frying pan, Kevin Bacon makes my burger taste REAL good and Miss Abby turns 7!

Ok, so two weeks ago, I posted this pic of what the weather was doing here…

TWO WEEKS AGO. That’s 41F.

And this past weekend was race weekend here in Ottawa (over 40,000 runners) and we almost had to cancel the events because of an insane (for us in MAY) heat wave. Yesterday, we had a humidex of 38C (100F). We are adaptable humans, but please, that’s a bit much to ask!

Luckily, with expert organization, awesome volunteers and community members, and slight adjustments to race start times, all races happened…just maybe a bit sweatier and slower than anticipated!

I love race weekend – even when I’m not racing. Going out and cheering on friends is so much fun…but this year, you did not see me on the sidelines…instead, I was in bed all weekend sick with a nasty head and chest cold. And sucking on these Canadian delicacies…

Yup, they contain pine sap. It’s so disgusting…but it works…so you suck it up…literally.

Before I had fully accepted how sick I was getting, I went out for dinner Friday night to The Works…one of the best burger places EVER. Here are some of the most popular burgers they serve:

And right now they have some bacon craze going on and have 3 new burgers that basically are just jammed pack with bacon…this is the one I chose:

And I had a side of their YUMMY spicy coleslaw…

Ok, that pic actually doesn’t look appetizing, but IT WAS. Like, to die for good. Buttt, that might just be due to all the bacon…couldn’t tell you anything else about the burger! lol

I spent most of the weekend, lying on the couch, watching Prison Break.

I’m on Season 3 and really want to stop watching it because it’s just getting silly, but at the same time I want to know what happens…did anyone actually watch all 4 seasons? And can anyone tell me it’s worth it?? And I just saw that they’re going to revive it with a season 5??

And want to know how Abby dealt with the heat wave this weekend?? Well, if she wasn’t hanging out over an AC vent…

This is what she was doing…

Buuuut, she did have quite a big day on Saturday…

Miss Abby turned 7 years old!! In some ways I can’t believe that it’s been SEVEN years…but in most ways, I can’t even imagine life without this little wiener!!

Happy Monday!

Sorry to hear you are sick and taking Buckley’s – gross stuff but it works, ha ha! Happy Birthday Abby! Our dog just turned 14!!! I’m so glad they went ahead with Ottawa on the weekend, I could only imagine the panic for those runners thinking they might not get to run! Sounds like they made some good changes and go communities involved.

OMG – I can’t remember what kind of dog you have! 14 is a great old age for a dog! One of our dogs growing up made it to 16…which then just makes it that much harder when you lose them!

Hope you feel better Jane! (those Lozenges should come with an additional warning label, they do work well but they really really really really taste awful and should be taken along with Jalapeño, seriously…lol)
Happy Birthday Abby!!!!! She is such a cutie! 🙂
(and as for Prison Break, yup, watched all 4 seasons.. yes, worth it. 🙂 )

Nancy – you are the first person I know who has seen all 4 seasons, so thank you for letting me know!! I will stick with it!!
I think the Buckley’s commercials say, “Taste awful…but it works!” lol

Prison Break: there is a final episode after season 4 called ” the final break” or something like that. Season 1 and 2 are the best seasons, but I was with you, had to stick it out until the end

I was like you, wanted to know how it ends. Saturday’s race, well, it was humid, windy and wet. I ran about 90″ slower than I thought. I’m pretty sure a lot of people’s results are the same way. That being said, it was a fun race and I thought I raced smart.

Ok, I looked up your results and thought it looked good but glad to hear you’re good with them as well!! Was that a good race for Reid as well, considering the heat and that he’s been injured?

I think he’s happy all things considering with the race conditions and where he’s at with his training coming off an injury. This kick starts his training for Rio!
