Yup, this was probably the best long weekend in terms of weather, ever!! And I had one tired wiener by the end!
Saturday morning started out with a long run with two of my teammates. I planned the route we took because I wanted it to go along the route of a triathlon that one of my best friends from work was competing in, so that I could cheer her on during the bike portion.
I told my teammates that the route would be 21km…
Saturday evening I went out for dinner for a girlfriend’s bday…
…only to have the power go out right before we ordered…and the power outage was blocks wide! The birthday girl and some of the others at the table, had plans of going to see a movie right after dinner (and had already bought tickets)…they were going to see Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising. I just couldn’t do it. I love this girl, but she has terrible taste in movies…last year I suffered through Pitch Perfect. I drew the line at this year’s selection. So, after waiting for a while to see if the power would come back on, those going to the move decided to eat at the theatre (they had VIP seating – where you have seat-side service) and the rest of us (I wasn’t the only one who has limits to movies), fended for ourselves…
Sunday morning found me at Ritchie Feed & Seed (one of the best Garden Centres in the city!) before 8am to ensure I was one of the first through its doors…this is the weekend, especially with the good weather, that EVERYONE is out buying plants for their garden!
I started out with this
I also have these on my front steps
After all that gardening I of course had earned myself some R&R…
But after a quick shower, fluid and food, I was ready to head up to Gatineau Park…which is 361km2 (131 square miles) of protected land filled with lakes and trails. And a 30 minute drive from my house.
And then there is this total ham:
Her name is Olive…but I call her Blanket because whenever she’s scared (which is often) she hides under a blanket. When Caroline first got her (rescued from a puppy mill), she spent the first 3 months at Caroline’s house hiding under a blanket. She’s is soooo much better now, but she will always be Blanket to me!! lol
And, finally, I just want to show off this amazing new tulip. Canada turns 150 years old next year and to celebrate we have an official tulip (Tulips in general are kind of a big deal here). I took this pic during my Saturday morning run…check it out – it looks like it has the maple leaf emblem! Ottawa, being the capital of the country, is going to be INUNDATED with them this time next year!!! I can’t wait!!
