And so it begins…another training cycle. This time, it’s for the Birmingham, Alabama half marathon that I’ll be racing on February, 14th, 2016. How do I feel about that? Like this:

I really enjoyed training by heart rate this past year so I am going to continue to train this way. If you want to know more about how I create my heart rate zones, you can find it here Training by Heart Rate – a post I did earlier this year.
So yesterday I did 4 easy miles in Zone 1 – the easy run days are active recovery…and I love them so much. I think they have made the biggest difference in my training over the past year. I never let myself have easy runs before.
Then after that it was strength training – I will likely always do squats and clamshells and a core exercise…the other ones I choose are decided on the spot 🙂 This is what I did yesterday:
I was almost immediately lame after the workout.
