Day 1 of the next 15 weeks!

And so it begins…another training cycle. This time, it’s for the Birmingham, Alabama half marathon that I’ll be racing on February, 14th, 2016. How do I feel about that? Like this:

I am sooooo excited!! Alabama to me means: warmer weather, meeting new people (and hearing their accent!!) and being in a place where there is a lot of american history to learn more about.

So, this is this week’s training plan:

I really enjoyed training by heart rate this past year so I am going to continue to train this way. If you want to know more about how I create my heart rate zones, you can find it here  Training by Heart Rate – a post I did earlier this year.

So yesterday I did 4 easy miles in Zone 1 – the easy run days are active recovery…and I love them so much. I think they have made the biggest difference in my training over the past year. I never let myself have easy runs before.

Since I’ve watched all of GOT, this year I’m watching Sons of Anarchy…not nearly as good as GOT, but it’s so far good enough to keep me on the treadmill for the workout!

Then after that it was strength training – I will likely always do squats and clamshells and a core exercise…the other ones I choose are decided on the spot 🙂 This is what I did yesterday:





I was almost immediately lame after the workout.

It’s been a while! But it felt great to be at it again! Challenging the body!

    Is that the Mercedes half Marathon you are running in February in Birmingham? I ran that marathon a few years ago, hopefully they have a comic – con going on in the hotel at the same time like we had!
