Closing up, painting & naughty otters, and baconing…yup, baconing.

Had a fun and productive weekend…but it definitely had some sadness to it.

We closed down the cottage for the season. My jobs were to help bring the boats in (except that boat, we leave it on the dock), scrub down the refrigerator, strip the beds, mow the grass (although I’ll admit, doing this for the last time this season is a nice thing!)

And help my dad drain the water system and take it out. This is the job I hate the most – it’s always done in the fall when it’s cold and you’re dealing with cold water. And you know how I feel about the COLD.

I tried to enjoy the beauty up there…but at the end of the day, it’s more just sad that another season up at the cottage has come to an end.

But I’ll tell you, THIS made me laugh. My next door neighbour, sun tanning…can you be anymore Canadian??

Back in the city I put away my own patio set and mowed my backyard lawn one final time (at least I hope it’s the last time!!) and then I FINALLY got started on a project that has been on my to-do list for months!

This was my dresser up at the cottage, but a new (and much bigger bed) left no room for it and so it will replace a dresser in my guest room at home…once I repaint it!

Yesterday day marked me finally buying the paint, prepping the dresser and laying down the first coat…imagine I will likely have to do 3 coats. I REALLY hate painting…so I made sure I had a beverage to enjoy while doing it…

Speaking of yummy things…I cooked up a pound of bacon this weekend (yeah, it’s all gone now)…I bake my bacon…

Lay it out on a lined cookie sheet, the place another layer of foil or parchment paper on top

And then nestle another cookie sheet on top of that.

Bake for 20 minutes…comes out so crispy that it literally melts in your mouth.

Also, why did it take me so long to buy this??

Chocolate Peanut Butter? Hello? Come to mama!!

Ran 13 miles yesterday on my own since I had to miss the team run on Saturday so I could help my parents at the cottage.

Overcast day but not too windy or cold – relatively speaking.

And Abby…threw down HARD on our walk this morning.

Happy Monday!!

You will know when you have met your soul mate when on a first date they take you to a craft brewery that has chocolate covered bacon appetizers!
